Life skills are the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour, which enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Life skills are innumerable, and are likely to differ across cultures and settings. Some skills which will make children productive and independent are as follows:

Decision Making
This skill helps a child to deal constructively with decisions about their life. To help children make better decisions, try these techniques:-

• Look to the future.
• Stick to the facts.
• Brainstorm to seek possibilities/ alternatives.
• Consider pros and cons of each option to reach a decision.

Time Management
Time management skills that helps develop a child to become a more responsible and accomplished individual, is as follows:
• Be focused at the task at hand.
• Use a calendar.
• Use a checklist.
• Get organised.
• Schedule rewards.
• Get a good night’s sleep.
